![]() Hooray for budget beauty! In this new series, we talk about sweet finds you can get for $10 or less. Maybelline is famous for their potted Tattoo Studio Gel liners, and I’m happy to say that their gel pencils are just as good — AND at $7.99 each, they’re crazy affordable. I used to wear gel pencils all the time because of the epic wear time (Bobbi Brown Jet was my jam back in the day), but I quit a few years ago when my skin became drier than all earthly deserts combined! Gel pencils just got to be too uncomfortable as they sucked the moisture outta my skin, so I switched to regular old kohl liners instead. The Maybelline gel pencils are different, though. They’re on the moisturizing side (for gel liners). They’re creamy and easy to feather for perfectly smudgy, soft lines. One big caveat? Their quality varies based on the color. Like, the brown and gray shades, which I wear all the time, are bulletproof; however, other shades like the blues are softer and have more “give.” Both the navy and the teal tips broke the very first time I used them. via https://ift.tt/2TU6dgL

![]() I’ve had painting on the brain lately for two reasons — one, because I’ve been spending practically every free moment at Home Depot because we’re planning some much-needed repairs and updates to the house this summer, including painting the place from top to bottom, because when El Hub and I purchased our place and moved in about a decade ago, we had no idea what we were doing. We were first-time homeowners, and the whole process was (and still is kinda) a mystery. We painted the interior with a flat finish, but flat finish is not your friend when you live with a toddler and/or a perpetually ravenous tabby who eats with reckless abandon and gets gravy splashes on the walls. Go with eggshell, homie. Eggshell is the way! It’s so much easier to clean. The second reason I’ve had painting on the brain lately is because of the new MAC eL Seed collection, which is coming out in a few days. It’s one of those LE releases that just feels so artsy to me, which I guess makes sense since it’s a collaboration with an artist. eL Seed is a Tunisian graffiti artist who was raised in Paris, and he’s famous for combining Arabic script with graffiti. via https://ift.tt/2HTh8pu ![]() Cute makeup organizers at Marshalls! From a practical standpoint, if any of these were to actually make a difference in my makeup collection, they’d have to be the size of wine barrels, ha ha ha! But they’re still cute nonetheless. If you’re a hardcore makeup hoarder like I am, you could keep the jars on your desk or vanity, and swap out the items in them every week or two. That way you’d always have different makeup rotating through your collection. ? I have a tendency to put some things in a big bag and just grab out of that because it’s convenient, but I think if I had some cute jars like these I’d be more inclined to wear a wider variety of things from my collection…if they were easier to get to, ya know? Of course, you can always get creative and use makeup-themed (or cat-themed) mugs to store your stuff! I swear, my Marshalls obsession has been next-level lately! Ever since the roof collapsed on the HomeGoods by me, Marshalls has been like the siren song of the sea. By the way, remember the pink cat toothbrush holder I mentioned a few weeks ago? Five minute, 10 minute… Heck — three-minute makeup! You can do it *all* with Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush ($24 each). These totally goof-proof powder blushes are fantastic for those out-the-door days, which I’ve come to love and appreciate lately. You may have noticed that I’ve been wearing shade Sunset Glow a lot lately (like, all last week!). It’s a beautiful golden coral with a satin finish, and the magic behind this (and all of the blushes in this family) is that it’s semi-transparent, meaning that you can take your blush brush, dip it into the pan, do a swish or two on your cheek, a quick blend at the edges, and be totally and completely done. You won’t be stuck erasing a hard line of demarcation at the edges of your cheeks. Instead, you’ll find a soft, subtle gradient, and it almost just happens naturally if you load a brush with this blush and gently tap-tap-tap it a few times on your cheek. It’s like powder blush for dummies! And HELLO, flexibility. via https://ift.tt/2YEuFGN ![]() NARS recently added nine new shades of lip gloss ($24 each) to their permanent line, and yes, some of them have scandalous monikers. Incidentally, awkward is seeing a picture of yourself grinning nonchalantly on the Interwebz with the words “Sexual Content” next to your head. Outrage! You know what they say, though… No Regrets. The standouts for me among this new crop o’ colors are the mid-tone rose, berry and brown shades. NARS poured all of the pigment into Sexual Content, Fever Beat, Mythic Red, No Regrets, Pulsion and Love Me Do, and there’s so much intensity there that they could pass for glossy liquid lipsticks. Thumbs up! I’ve been wearing Pulsion and Mythic Red the most, usually with taupe or golden brown eyeshadow. On the sheer side, there’s creamy coral Outage (which I LOVE, especially layered on top of a light coral lippie), pale pastel purple Color Me (bluh, patchy) and golden glittery Sexy Time (which is grrrritty). Par for the course, these don’t smell or taste like anything, and the formula is moderately thick but not goop-y or sticky. They feel a lot like the MAC Lipglasses and Chanel Glossimers IMO, which I like. It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Tuesday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start.
1. The gang is heading to In-N-Out! What should we get you?
I’ll take a vanilla milkshake and a cheeseburger ? please! — no onions, but with extra pickles. Also, a side of fries, even though I’m going to give most of them to whomever sits next to me because I think In-N-Out fries are a sad, limp travesty… I only like having them around so I can dip a few into my vanilla shake! 2. What do you think of sheet masks? I’ve tried a few. With the exception of the famously fancy SK-II sheet mask (which really does make a difference in radiance!), I’m not really into ’em. I don’t like that the sheets come out so slimy and cold (gross), and how the eye and nose holes are always a little off and never fit my face quite right. A fresh fringe always seems like the answer to everything, right? I’m convinced that there’s a phenomenon called “hair amnesia,” and it involves getting bangs. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at my hair and thought, “Oh, I need a change. I should get bangs. THIS IS A GOOD IDEA.” But in reality, it never really works out, LOL! You’re so lucky if you can pull off bangs, you hair me? The new You Hair Me Tee is here, and it’s available in sizes S-3XL. Tabs primarily supervised his junior assistant while she created a chalk art installment in the main foyer. Tabs can be a real taskmaster sometimes, but he didn’t even have to draw his claws once. His assistant followed every order to a T. As Tabs has pointed out before, she’s got a lot of potential in this career if she chooses to work her way up to chief pet assistant. Harris has been coming around again, and Tabs suspects that he’s trying to woo away his junior assistant. That would be a serious breach of protocol in the kitty modeling field, and would also violate the company’s non-compete agreement. Since his assistant did such a great job with the art installment, Tabs even had time to grab a quick nap. He woke up refreshed and raring to go for an impromptu photo session. Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, Karen via https://ift.tt/2V9Q9cq ![]() Goooooooood morning, beautiful girl! ? As we say in our house, I think you’re beautiful inside and out. The outside stuff? — it’s all temporary. It’s the inside stuff that’s important, and I think you’re beautiful on the inside. Watcha got planned for the day? Aside from the usual Caturday chores (Side note… At the top of the list is to carry Tabs around like a newborn baby, since he woke up acting *extra* needy.), I plan to paint my nails, and yes, those plans will probably involve pastels, ha ha ha! I’m ready to say bye to that pastel peach Sally Hansen Mega Strength mani at the top, which made it five days before “peace-ing out” on me. I was a little surprised it didn’t last quite as long as the other colors I’ve tried from the line (Boss Gloss and She-Ro made it to seven days before big chips appeared). The only thing I did differently was, well…I had a bad cold, so I was blowing my nose a lot. I wonder… Could blowing the living crap outta your nostrils cause that much wear and tear on your nails? Well, if I were rolling with my girls, and we all were wearing Hourglass Lip Oil in Cameo, we’d be known as Bougie Bouge and the Bougie Bunch, because this tiny tube costs $49! — which is REDONK. But if you’re feeling fancy, it’s good stuff, especially if your lips are flaky and dry. I’ve been a fan of No. 28 Lip Oil since day one (back when it was a “steal” at just $42). I’ve had a tube on my nightstand for years, and while I’ve never liked the price (I always buy mine during the Sephora VIB sale), I know that when my lips are past the point of no return, I can slick the O.G. clear No. 28 on my lips before bed (it smells and tastes a little like rosemary), and when I wake up the next morning, everything’s copacetic. Hourglass recently added tinted versions of No. 28 to the line, and the stand-out for me is the rose shade called Cameo. Absolutely gorgeous. My lips are pretty pigmented, so lightly tinted products are hit or miss for me, but Cameo looks like a perfect MLBB shade.
